The creators of “This is Spinal Tap” can pursue a lawsuit against Vivendi SA’s Studiocanal over allegations they weren’t paid their share of the profits from the 1984 cult classic about a fictional British rock band.
A federal judge in Los Angeles on Tuesday denied Studiocanal’s request to dismiss the fraud claim by actor/comedian Harry Shearer and the other creators of the mockumentary, who seek $400 million in compensatory and punitive damages.
