About the Plaintiffs

• Christopher Guest starred as the band Spinal Tap’s lead guitarist Nigel Tufnel.
• Michael McKean starred as lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist David St Hubbins.
• Harry Shearer starred as bassist Derek Smalls.
• Rob Reiner directed This Is Spinal Tap and starred as its narrator.

All four created the original characters in the 1970s, wrote This is Spinal Tap and co-wrote the songs.

Recent work

Christopher Guest made a feature film for Netflix, called “Mascots”. Michael McKean delivered an acclaimed performance in the hit TV series “Better Call Saul” (AMC), he is also the host of Cooking Channel’s “Food: Fact or Fiction?” and featured in the new production of “Little Foxes” at Manhattan Theater Club on Broadway. Harry Shearer continues to create and present the long-running radio show, Le Show, and voice-acts some 23 characters on The Simpsons, among other projects. Two films directed by Rob Reiner were recently released. One, starring Woody Harrelson, is called “LBJ” and is about Lyndon Johnson. The other, called “Shock and Awe”, is about the four journalists from Knight Ridder News, who were prescient in their reporting of the war in Iraq.
